Midwives support mothers - before, during and after birth. But they often work under precarious circumstances, with poor pay and a lot of stress. What is it like to be pregnant under Corona, to give birth to a child and to accompany it as a midwife? Verena Brüning has portrayed midwives, young mothers and women giving birth for her freelance project and additionally interviewed them in short videos. The women appear here as the strong heroines they are.
The work has been exhibited several times as part of the project "In Waves #womenincovid" in Germany and Tallin, Estonia.
