Where Dust And Water Dream Together

Tunisia is not often central in global climate conversations, yet it reflects what is quietly unfolding elsewhere. From eroded coastlines to drying highlands, the country reveals what it means to live with change — not as a distant threat, but as daily life. Here, peace is not a fixed state. It is the choice to stay connected, to land, to others, to what matters, even as the ground shifts.

Where Dust and Water Dream Together follows people whose lives are shaped by this shift. Built over time and trust, the work traces the quiet practices that connect people to place. A woman gathers herbs from hills that no longer bloom. Fishermen adapt to protect the ancestral sharfiya technique. Families in the south wait years for the return of rain. These actions are not symbolic, and they are not solutions. They are the form that resilience takes.

Tunisia is not a backdrop here. It is a microcosm, a place where environmental pressure meets knowledge, memory, and quiet strength. This work asks what kind of peace can exist when conditions are unstable, and whether connection, care, and rooted resilience might be enough to hold it in place.
