You never told me about your time in prison
I was named after my parents friend, Shohreh Modir Shahnechi. She was arrested in Iran on July 24, 1981 due to her to political activism and got executed fourteen days later at the age of twenty-five. Like many other Iranians who stood up against the Shah-Regime and later against the Islamic dictatorship, my parents had to flee Iran shortly after the Islamic Revolution due to the increasing repression. They are living as exiles ever since. 'You never told me about your time in prison' intends to capture and tell the story of those who suffered the same fate as my parents, who spent years in prison and experienced torture, those who were forced to leave their families and their homeland, in order to survive and to keep up their fight for freedom, people who had to adapt to a new environment, while dealing with painful memories such as the loss of family members and dear friends. This is the story of those who lost hope of ever returning back to their homeland Iran
