fall, rising

“Failure” usually has a negative connotation, but it should not be regarded solely as a negative event. Just as it is inevitable to struggle and fall when learning to walk as a toddler, the process of failure acts as a catalyst for an individual's development in life. Why do we exist? What purpose do I have? While human reason enables us to ask these questions, the mind is too limited to even comprehend every possible answer. However, through art, these questions can be explored and expressed. According to Albert Camus, the absurd lies precisely in this juxtaposition between the questioning person and an irrationally silent world. Sisyphus embodies failure like no other by never succeeding in rolling a rock up the hill. It is precisely because of the absurdity of his actions that Camus imagines him as a happy person. In my work „fall, rising“ I therefore dealt with failure as a condition of being human and the associated fear of failure, inspired by the theater of the absurd and especially by Samuel Beckett.
