Come As You Are
In my ongoing project “Come As You Are”, I document young people and their respective socially relevant topics. Questions about one's own identity and the critical questioning of social structures are explored through photography in a joint dialog.
The photographs, which are taken spontaneously in the personal surroundings of the protagonists, often contain absurd and bizarre stylistic elements to illuminate the tension between the individual and society.
As my understanding of art is a political one, it is important to me to create a space in which the protagonists themselves have their say, rather than letting others speak about them, in addition to making their stories visible.
For this reason, previous exhibitions on this and other projects were often either supplemented by an audio or text layer or organized as an event in which the protagonists could also express themselves artistically through performance or music.
