Perpetual War(s)

In March 2026, the first weeks of the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah plunged Lebanon into a new phase of war and mass displacement. In the south of the country, daily bombings transformed border villages into deserted areas, while the strikes gradually reached the southern outskirts of Beirut.

Tens of thousands of residents fled north, finding refuge in schools, vacant lots, or with relatives. Others remained despite the destruction. As the weeks passed, the conflict reshaped the Lebanese landscape. Between exodus, ruins, and funerals, daily life was organized in a state of constant uncertainty, punctuated by evacuation alerts, airstrikes, and waiting.

By April 2026, after a month of conflict, the toll of the Israeli offensive had surpassed 2, 000 dead, 4, 000 wounded, and 1. 3 million displaced—nearly a quarter of the Lebanese population. Filmed between March 5 and May 30, 2026 in Beirut, Tyre, Nabi Chit, Nabatieh and Qlayaa, this report follows the human and material consequences of the conflict through the trajectories of displaced civilians, the destruction and the forms of survival that emerge in the country once again facing war.
