Home for Belarus
This is a rather personal project that I started and continue to shoot after the forced relocation from Belarus to Poland at the end of August 2021 due to security reasons and the opportunity to continue being a photographer. In 2020, I switched from commercial to documentary photography and filmed the events taking place in Belarus around the election of the President of the country and the subsequent struggle of Belarusians for their rights after the falsified voting results and the suppression of peaceful protests. Starting from the summer of 2020, hundreds of thousands of residents of Belarus, like me, were forced to leave their homes due to the persecution of the authorities and build a temporary life outside the country in new conditions and circumstances, interact and support each other at different levels, continuing exert all possible pressure on the regime inside the country, as well as actively form a national identity outside the geographical borders of Belarus. February 24, 2022 and the start of the war in Ukraine became another challenge for the Belarusians, who actively joined the anti-war movement: volunteer support, assistance with temporary housing, participation in joint protests, the formation of the Kalinovsky battalion, consisting of Belarusians and part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, providing humanitarian assistance and other feasible support at different levels of society.
