This documentary project “ADAMA” meaning “land” in Hebrew,
gives an exclusive glimpse into the unique lifestyle of the farmers that live in the Judea and Samaria mountains in Israel in the West Bank.
Here, the story is all about the land.

Judea and Samaria are the heart of the Israeli–Palestinian conflict, located in the West Bank about 15 km from Tel Aviv and the central area of Israel.
This enduring conflict is an ongoing dispute between Israel and the Palestinians, beginning in the mid-20th century. Its first and foremost over who gets what land and how it’s controlled.
In Judea and Samaria reside Israeli Jews and Palestinian Arabs therefore there is a division of the territory into areas A, B AND C. Areas C where the farms are located, are under security and civilian control of the State of Israel. It is Land that is not privately owned by Jews or Arabs- it is owned by the state. The farms are considered outposts settlements, established with a limited government permit.

The photographed farms are home to families with children, young singles and volunteers. They live in trucks, trailers and temporary structures in solitude and fully self-sufficient way for all their basic needs, such as water and electricity.
The daily routine is going out with the sheep to pasture, thereby showing their presence over the area of the farm. During the night the farmers secure the area.

These simple people left their normal life to live in temporary and unsettling conditions on these farms for ideological reasons and a strong belief in the value of preserving the ownership of the land they believe is theirs. The farmers are religious Orthodox Jews.

My document project will reveal on one hand the beautiful pristine nature that surrounds the farmers and on the other hand the powerful principles and sense of mission that drives them.

In these photographs you will be exposed to extraordinary individuals I decided to follow in seven different farms. They trusted me enough to allow me to enter their internal world and their fascinating personal life that is perhaps first time ever shown.
