This is part of an ongoing project: a selection of portraits that I took over the last years, from semi nudes to fashion assignments, moments in between. It became clear to me that what links all these different pictures to each other is some sort of study on my own understanding of “femininity”. That I take fashion assignments as a possibility to work on this study. They’re predestined: I can use the pieces as a costume or as a converter which helps the model and me to create different characters, different versions of a woman*. Due to my own struggles with binary stereotypes, the topic of femininity has always been one of affiliation. Maybe I’m searching for pieces of myself in other women* to get a picture of where I belong. This said it’s clear to me that in the future I have to integrate portraits of men* in this study because what the heck is femininity?!
