Stars Over the Eastern Sky

"Stars Over the Eastern Sky" is a project that tells the story of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It sheds light on the devastating impact of the war on the lives and freedom of the Ukrainian people. The essay examines war's profound impact on individuals, society, and nations. The story aims to explore the extent of systemic violence used as a policy-making tool. It also depicts the effort to suppress national identity, eradicate language, and intimidate the Ukrainian people.

The protagonists of this story are mainly civilians. They are refugees from Irpin or Kharkiv. Children like Alexey, Timur or Slavik, living in villages near the front. But there are also stories of soldiers and their families - wives who have lost their husbands and mothers who have had to say goodbye to their sons.
