Tozsamosc - Identity
This is an ongoing project about the polish people, society and identity. Furthermore I started to discover and explore my own identity with every picture. I started to ask myself questions why I'm seeing this way and what drives me to take or leave a picture. It is a new photographic approach for me. Moving further away from those polished press photos with their crystal clear message and structured compositions. Partly with film I took thousands of photos on the streets or during events all over Poland. While I tried to let go all of the established and trained concepts I have in my mind about background stories and journalistic relevance. I started to see different, and I started to discover what really interests me in a photograph. It all started when I met my girlfriend, she is from Poland. We met in a bar in Berlin. And I felt stupid that I live about a hundred kilometers away from her country, but have never been there. So close to my door, but I can order all kinds of coffee in dutch. So I started the journey to travel a few thousand miles through her country by car and train to see, smell and feel all the different angles of the slavic culture. We even moved to Warsaw for a few months.
