My photography is linked to the humanistic and the documentary. I see it as a permanent exploration of life, with my subjects almost always in their natural surroundings, including the light, the landscape, and even the architecture. In my images, I try to capture ordinary moments of daily life and expose the vulnerability that we all carry within us. In this series of black and white photographs, there is a reflection on the transience of human life and a record of that brief, complex period that exists during the jump from childhood to maturity, a moment full of fears, fragilities, illusions, passions, and desires. I think that much of the power that my images might have comes from the tension between childhood, which most of my protagonists will soon overcome, and the inevitable path towards adulthood and the loss of innocence. My approach to this set of images, which reveals a very intimate and caring relationship between photographer and subject, is not photojournalistic – a recorder of specific events –, but the one of an artist working with rhythm, beauty, and sensibility. I also realized that in this particular case, black and white photography, as an abstraction from real life, suited my purpose better than color. It encourages the viewer to move between real-time and memory. ¬
