Invisible Lifes - How stateless people face discrimination in Lebanon

Stateless people are noch protected by any date or law. They are denied basic rights. They cannot vote, cannot register their children at birth, cannot access education or health care, cannot open a bank account, cannot hire, cannot travel. There are many reasons why people becoe stateless. They range from migration, to escape and displacement, to the consequences of incomplete population statistics, to deprivation of citizenship, to political, religious or gender discrimination. Stateless people are often referred to as "invisible" because they are not officially recognized. Lebanon is home to many stateless people: unregistered Lebanese who pass on their statelessness to their children, Palestinians whos families have lived in Lebanon for generations and yet are not granted citizenship. Or refugees from Syria and Iraq who have lost their citizenship because of wars in their home and countries. This work shows people who are otherwise not seen and will remain strangers to us.
